Grandfather Poems | Just Like Him

He taught me how
to build a fire ..
He gave me hope
and sparked desire.

He taught me how
to love and care ..
Common sense
and how to share.

He watched me grow
through every year ..
And guided me
through my worst fear.

He listened to
my every dream ..
And tolerated me
at my extreme.

I talked to
him everyday ..
We never ran out
of things to say.

Without him I don’t
know who I’d be,
Who he is
lives on in me.

He taught me how
to be just like him ..
And I already
am within.

The one that is my friend
The one that is my guide ..
How much I love, I care for you
is too hard to describe.

You’ve always been my hero
You’ve always been me pride ..
You’ve always given so much love
and always at my side.

My heart is full of love for you
you make everything alright ..
You’re the one who sang me to sleep
and whispered nighty night.

And everyday I thank God
For a Grand-dad strong and true ..
You are the best Grand-dad of all
I thank him for sending you.

Grandpa can you tell me
were you once a little boy? ..
Did you play with frogs
and balance on logs
and play with funny toys?

Or have you always been a grandpa
have you always been that old ..
with a prickly chin and wrinkly skin
and teeth made out of gold?

If you were ever little
then maybe someday I will be ..
A grandpa just like you
with a grandson just like me.

Thank You for everything
Everything you are ..
Thank you for the loving hand
The support and care.

Thank You for being my grandpa
the best person in my life ..
Thank You for being always with me
through happiness and strife.
