Flea collars just may be effective to prevent flea infestations or to treat limited infestations for a limited amount of time; however, I believe they are not be the best single choice, if your dog or cat is suffering a serious flea infestation or if you live in an area where fleas are a significant problem, considering flea collars really only deal with adult fleas and the majority of a flea problem lies in the carpet, bedding and yards of where our pets are kept or housed. For severe infestation you may need to use other types of flea control along with, or instead of, just a collar. You must therefore target the root of a flea infestation to be successful at treating it.
