Staffordshire Bull Terrier Puppy
Breed Origin: England. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a British breed, developed by crossing the Bulldog with various local terriers, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier was bred for the purpose of dog-fighting. These fights took place in specially constructed pits, often situated in public house yards, and large amounts of money were bet on the outcome of these bouts. Today the Staffordshire Bull Terrier has grown into a kind and friendly dog, although they still have the inherently predisposed to show aggression with other dogs.

- Description: The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a dog built with brawn and bravery. It is a compact, well-muscled little powerhouse. These short-coated dogs are very people orientated. They have a large square head with eyes that are set looking straight ahead. Their coats are short, smooth and close to the body.
- Exercise Requirements: Staffordshire Bull Terriers are not a breed to be left alone for long periods of time. They love being with the family and require a daily walk for at least 20 minutes.
- Grooming: The coat of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is one that is very short. Shedding rarely it requires very little more than a regular brush and bath, maybe fortnightly.
- Hereditary Disorders: The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is prone to the following diseases Hypothyroidism, Entropion, Cleft lip, Cleft Palate, Muscular Dystrophy, Osteochondritis dissecans, Osteochondrosis dissecans, Cataract, Distichiasis, Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) (X-linked). - Life Expectancy: 12 to 14 years
- Living Area Requirements: This breed is okay to live an apartment with a small yard. In general the Staffordshire Bull Terrier should not be left to live outside. It its a companion dog and thrives in the presence of its family.
- Temperament: Affectionate, Intelligent, Courageous, Fearless, Bold, Reliable. Stubborn and at times headstrong, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is inclined to challenge for top position in the family pecking order. This dog will require confident leadership skills and obedience training. As you may expect, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is not going to be peace-loving with all other dogs, especially those his own size or larger.The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is more than willing to fight if confronted, which, for some Staffies, it could consist of simply being looked at. This is not a breed that should be let run loose at the neighborhood dog park.
