- Description: The Airedale Terrier Dog Breed is the largest of the terrier breed and is often referred to as “King Of The Terriers” The Airedale Dog Breed is quite square in appearance. The skull of the Airedale is about the same length as the muzzle, with a very slight stop that is hard to see. The head is long and flat and the nose presents as black. The teeth should meet in a level, vice-like or scissors bite. The Airedale Terrier has small eyes that are dark in color. Airedales have v shape ears that fold slightly to the side of the head and forward. The chest is deep. The top-line of the back is level. The front legs are perfectly straight. The tail is set high on the back. The Airedale Terrier Dog Breed has what is known as a double coat. It has a hard, dense and wiry outer coat with a soft undercoat. Coat colors include tan and black and tan and grizzle. The head and ears should be tan, with the ears being a slightly darker shade of tan. The legs, thighs, elbows and the under part of the body and chest are also tan, sometimes running into the shoulder. In some lines there is a small white blaze on the chest. The back of the dog, sides and upper parts of the body should be black or dark grizzle in color.
- Exercise Requirements: Airedale Terriers are the natural athletes of the dog world and were bred for active work, and therefore need plenty of stimulation and exercise. Most of them love to play with a ball, swim or play fetch. The exercise requirement does go down somewhat after the first two years but the first couple of years with an Airedale Terrier can be dynamic and challenging on its owner.
- Food Requirements: Airedales are not a particularly greedy or fussy eaters and are therefore easy to feed. They are however well-built and very active dogs who require reasonable amounts of good quality food to fuel their energy levels.
- Grooming: Airedale Terrier Grooming..Your Airedale Terrier grooming routine should be daily to keep the dog looking smart and feeling good. Regular brushing will also lessen the occurrence of skin irritations. The Airedales coat sheds twice yearly and professional stripping is advised at this time. As part of the daily Airedale Terrier grooming routine, it is advisable to check the feet for lumps of mud or matted hair. Airedale grooming should also include checking the ears, eyes and teeth. It may also be necessary to occasionally trim hair from in and around the ears and cleaning of the teeth regularly will be beneficial.

- Hereditary Disorders: Airedale Terriers are very strong, sturdy dogs and a high tolerance to pain, often making it difficult to detect illnesses. - Living Area Required: The Airedale Terrier is a medium sized dog and can make a good city dog, but with that said it definitely will not be happy in a small, enclosed home. It needs an average yard where it can run freely.

Use plenty of praise and affection, win its loyalty, and it will do everything it can to make you happy.
