Dad Poems P6

Daddy I Love You

Daddy, I love you
for all that you do ..
I’ll kiss you and hug you
’cause you love me, too.

You feed me and need me
to teach you to play ..
So smile ’cause I love you
on this Father’s Day.

My Dad

When I was just a little kid
do you remember dad ..
The time you kissed my bruises
when I was hurt real bad.

It seems like only yesterday
you wiped away my tears ..
And late at night I called your name
to chase away my fears.

Though time has changed your firm grip
your hair is snowy white ..
You gait’s a little slower now
thick glasses help your sight.

Oh, do I thirst for years gone by
to be that growing lad ..
Re-living all of the memories
of growing with my dad.

So Many Things

A Father means so many things
an understanding heart ..
A source of strength and support
right from the very start.

A constant readiness to help
kind and thoughtful every day ..
With encouragement and forgiveness,
no matter what comes your way.

A Better Place

You gave no one a last farewell
nor ever said goodbye ..
You were gone before we knew it,
and only God knows why.

A million times we’ll miss you
a million times we’ll cry ..
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

In life we loved you dearly
in death we love you still ..
In our hearts you hold a place
no one else can ever fill.

It broke our hearts to lose you
but you didn’t go alone ..
For part of us went with you
the day God took you home.

We will meet again some day
I know in a better place ..
I thank God He made you my Dad
while you were here on earth.

Take My Hand Daddy

Take my hand daddy
and help me through the snow ..
I’m still little and the snow is deep
I have a long way to go.

I’m glad you took time to play
to help me up this hill ..
One day I’ll be all grown up
and will have your shoes to fill.

So take my hand and lead me
‘cause it’s no fun to play alone ..
Someday I will laugh, and play
with children of my own.

You’ve Been Everything To Me

You’ve been everything to me: a father,
teacher, playmate, model, conscience, friend ..
Sometimes I’m not certain why you bother
if your feelings on my words depend.

I know I haven’t been the child I should
far from it, and I really can’t say why ..
I know exactly what I’d label good
but in the real world something goes awry.

Underneath my actions there is love
gratitude, respect, and admiration ..
Sometimes I don’t know what I’m thinking of
but I thank God you’re in for the duration.

I’m very, very sorry
for all the things I do ..

But please believe when I say
I cherish Mom and You.

Walk Beside Me Daddy

Walk alongside me, daddy
and hold my little hand ..
I have so many things to learn
that I don’t yet understand.

Teach me things to keep me safe
from dangers every day ..
Show me how to do my best
at home, at school, at play.

Every child needs a gentle hand
to guide them as they grow ..
So walk alongside me, daddy
We have a long way to go.

Daddy I love you with all of my heart
as I have done right from the start.

When I cry a tear you are always there
You soothe me and hug me when I get a scare.

If I have a problem, you are always there to talk
When I get lost beside me you walk.

I thank God that he gave me a daddy so true.
and I hope now you know, how much I love you.

My Dad And I

My dad and I-we think alike
he knows just what I mean ..
Before I even say a word
he reads, well, in between.

My dad and I we like to fish
or build a model plane ..
Or fix a broken chair or two
or just a windowpane.

My dad and I-we know the score
of every single game ..
Sometimes he’s really busy, too
but he takes me just the same.

My dad and I-we go swimming too
each year and sometimes twice ..
My dad and I-we do everything
my dad-he’s really nice.

You Never

You never said I’m leaving
you never said goodbye ..
You were gone before I knew it
and only God knew why.

A million times I needed you
a million times I cried ..
If Love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

In Life I loved you dearly
in death I love you still ..
In my heart you hold a place
that no one could ever fill.

It broke my heart to lose you
but you didn’t go alone ..
For part of me went with you
the day God took you home.

Over the years
as we grow old ..
We remember our father
so brave and bold.

In the garden
leaning on the plow ..
He would listen to me
I see him now.

He would give advice
and understand ..
He was always there
to lend a hand.

God made fathers
strong and firm ..
For he knew our lives
would have great concerns.

So he gave us fathers
to teach us to pray ..
And guide our lives,
and show us the way.

So on his day
let’s take the time ..
To say “Thanks, dad.
I’m glad you’re mine.”

More Than A Dad

You’re more than a dad
But a kind loving, kind man ..
You showed me the ways
which I would understand.

You taught me good from bad
And all I should know ..
I love you so much
and I write this to show.

You’re not only my dad
but my very best friend ..
and I’ll love you forever
from now until the end.

Daddy, I Love You

Daddy, I love you
For all that you do ..
I’ll kiss you and hug you
‘Cause you love me, too.

You feed me and need me
To teach you to play ..
So smile ’cause I love you
On this Father’s Day.

I Am Thankful For Your Care

Dad, your wise words have stuck with me
Just like pollen sticks to a bee.

I need you just like I need air
and I always know you will be there.

Sometimes I make your life hell
but I know you love me just as well.

So please trust me, this is true
with all my heart I do love you!

The message that I want to share
is that I am thankful for all your care!

Thank You Dad

Thank You, Dad for
always being there ..

For being strong yet
showing you cared.

For being my protector
and setting the rules ..

For the rides, the money
and the help with school.

For all the times I was
grounded for my own good ..

I may not have been happy
but I always understood.

That I am lucky to be
one of the few ..

To have a Dad that loves me
as much as you do.

I love you, Dad.

My Daddy

The first day I met you
to young to understand ..

That my loving, caring daddy
was holding my little hand.

I must of seemed so
small and fragile as can be ..

But when I looked at you
my daddy was all I could see.

As I grew older and needed
your helping hand ..

I know it was hard
with all of my demands.

But even through the hard times
and those younger days ..

I would thank the Lord for my
daddy, every time I prayed.

Now I am a woman
with a son of my own ..

I hope I can teach him
all the love you have shown.

He can love my daddy
in a very special way.

He will be Grandpa
each and every day.

Dad I wanted to tell you
what you mean to me ..

In my heart my daddy
you will always be.

– Ellen Shost

Greatest Daddy

My daddy is the greatest
the best daddy there ever was ..
He always brings me lots of joy
he’s my very own Santa Claus.

My Daddy can do anything
He’s smart as smart can be ..
I love to walk and hold his hand
to show he belongs to Me.

I Love My Daddy!

A Good Dad

Most any man can father a child
for this we know is true ..
But to be a good dad there’s a whole lot more
for all these men to do.

They have to have strength to endure long days
even though their bodies be tired ..
The love in their hearts has to show in their eyes
to the child who so admires.

They have to show honesty through each day
and show that life is worth living ..
They have to show caring in all they do
in taking and in giving.

Understanding has to be a big part
of the father’s heart as well ..
And though he feels pain or hurts
at times he may never, never tell.

They have a great laughter that shows in their eyes
and comes rolling from within ..
To light up the faces of each little child
as each day draws to an end.

Hopes for today, dreams for tomorrow
is what they must keep showing ..
And though they grow old they still feel great joy
for the love of their children keeps growing.

A Father Just Like You

I just want you to know
you mean the world to me ..
Only a heart as dear as yours
would give so unselfishly.

The many things you’ve done
all the times that you were there ..
Helps me know deep inside
how much you really care.

Even though I might not say
I appreciate all you do ..
Richly blessed is how we feel
having a father just like you.

To Any Daddy

There are little eyes upon you
and they’re watching day by day ..
There are little ears that surely
take in every word you say.

There are little hands all eager
to do everything you do ..
There’s a little boy who’s dreaming
of the day he’ll be like you!

You’re that little fellow’s idol
you’re the wisest of the wise ..
In his little mind, about you
no suspicions e’er arise.

He believes in you devoutly
holds that all you say or do ..
He will say and do, in your way
when he’s all grown up like you.

There’s a wide-eyed little fellow
who believes you’re always right ..
His keen ears are always open
to catch your words, day or night.

You are setting an example
every day, in all you do ..
For the little boy who’s wanting
to grow up to be like you.

What A Father Means

A Father means so many things
a understanding heart ..
A source of strength and of support
right from the very start.

A constant readiness to help
on a kind and thoughtful way ..
With encouragement and forgiveness
no matter what comes your way.

A special generosity
and always affection, too ..
A Father means so many things
when he’s a man like you.

In My Eyes

He’s rough and lacks in etiquette
society, would say ..
He has no classy attributes
to help him on his way.

He’s not a fancy dresser
and he’s not so trimmed and neat ..
With simple clothes and simple shoes
he wears upon his feet.

He doesn’t belong to a club
or drive a shiny car ..
And when he takes vacations
he does not go very far.

He doesn’t dine on fine cuisine
to him fast food’s a treat ..
And he may use a plastic fork
when it is time to eat.

He has a modest little house
but has all that he needs ..
He keeps his lawn cut nice and short
he even trims his weeds.

He works long hours at his job
to make an average pay ..
And even if he’s sick or tired
he goes to work each day.

His job is just a factory job
his pay just makes ends meet ..
But, a few good friends and family
make his life complete.

He’s not well versed in poetry
theater or the arts ..
And wisdom is not something
that he constantly imparts.

He loves the simple things in life
for riches doesn’t thirst ..
He knows what is important
and his family is put first.

The wealth that God has given
him, to treasure in his life ..
A loving son and daughter
and a very special wife.

He never has much money
and his life is not a show ..
But he is still the richest man
that I will ever know.

To others he’s a simple man
and fame he’s never had ..
But he’s the greatest man I know
he also is my Dad.

Always a Father Always a Friend

Always a Father –
Someone who cares for
you and about you
all through your life.
Someone whose
guidance you value ..
.. concern you appreciate
and love you depend upon.

Always a Friend –
someone to laugh with ..
.. someone you can count on
to help you out, back you up
and never let you down.

That’s what a father is ..
.. that’s what you are to me!
