You Are Not Forgotten
You are not forgotten,
loved one, nor will you ever be,
as long as life and memory last,
we will remember thee.
We miss you now, our hearts are sore.
As time goes by we’ll miss you more.
Your loving smile, your gentle face
no one can fill your vacant place.
No breaking heart is here,
no sad and chilling pain;
no wasted cheeks where frequent tears
rolls down and leaves it stain.
Dear Friends of mortal years,
the trusted and the true,
you are watching still
in the valley of tears,
but I wait to welcome you.
I won’t forget, O no!
For memory’s golden chain
shall bind my heart to the hearts below
till we meet to touch again.
Each link is strong and bright,
and love’s eternal flame,
flows freely down,
like a river of light,
to the world from where I came.
And God Shall wipe away
all tears from their eyes.
It’s been many years
since you’ve been gone,
But in our hearts
you still live on,
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing is the same,
We mention your name,
And speak of you often,
God bless You
You are not forgotten.
It’s lonely here without you,
we miss you more each day,
For life is not the same to us,
since you were called away.
Your resting place we visit,
place flowers there with care,
But no one knows our heartache,
when we turn to leave you there.
We think of you in silence,
We often speak your name,
But all we have are memories,
And your picture in a frame.
Your resting place we visit,
And put flowers there with care,
But no one knows the heartache,
As we turn and leave you there.
Life is a beautiful memory,
His death is a silent grief;
He sleeps in God’s beautiful garden,
In sunshine of perfect peace,
I miss him oh so much,
But realize God knew best,
He let me have him many years,
Then gently bid him rest.
We often think of bygone days,
When we were all together,
The family chain is broken now,
But memories will live forever,
To us, she has not gone away,
Nor has she traveled far,
Just entered God’s eternal home,
And left the gate ajar.
(In Loving Memory Mom)
Things I feel most deeply
Are the hardest things to say,
Dearest Mom, I loved you
In a very special way.
If I could have one lifetime wish
One dream that could come true,
I’d pray to God with all my heart,
For yesterday, and you.
To find release from daily cares
in what we know as death . . .
Is this the crowning of life,
the aim or end thereof?
The totaled sum of consciousness,
the ripened fruit of love?
It cannot be, for works of God
are wrought for nobler ends,
and those away continue on
in the hearts of kin and friends.
It cannot be, for they live on
a little step away,
the soul, the everlasting life,
has found a better day . . .
(In Loving Memory Mom)
God gave us our Mother,
and he tried to be fair,
When he gave us ours,
we got more than our share.
Although He took her back
to Heaven on that day.
We are so grateful for,
the years he let her stay.
How we miss the welcome footsteps
Of the one we loved so dear.
Oft we listen for his coming
Fully sure that he is near.
Thou are gone but not forgotten
Fresh our love will ever be
For as long as there is memory
We will always think of thee.
(In Loving Memory Dad)
It’s so strange that those we need
And those we love the best,
Are just the ones God called away
And took them home to rest,
But every time I think of Dad,
I seem to hear God say,
Have faith and trust my promise
You’ll meet again someday.
Broken is the family circle,
Our dear one has passed away.
Passed from this earthly darkness
Into a bright and perfect day;
But we all must cease to languish
O’er the grave of him we love,
Strive to be prepared to meet him
In the better world above.
Many the thoughts I give to you
As the long hours go by.
Thinking of the things we used to
Do and say, just you and I.
Sometimes they make me smile,
Sometimes they make me cry.
But are precious to me alone,
Memories of you and I.
(In Loving Memory Mom)
Dearer to memory than words can tell,
Thoughts of a mother we loved so well.
My heart just aches with sadness
For the face I cannot see.
God alone knows how I miss you,
Oh, why, why must it be.
He left us quietly, His thoughts
unknown, But left us a memory we
are proud to own. So treasure him
Lord in Your garden of rest, for when
on earth he was one of the best.
In silent prayer and aching heart
I watched you day by day,
Although I loved you dearly, mother,
I could not make you stay.
The silent grief that’s in my heart
No human eye can trace,
For many a broken heart
Lies hidden beneath a smiling face.
One gift, above all others
God gives to us to treasure
one that knows no time, no place
and one gold cannot measure.
The precious, poignant, tender gift
of memory that will keep
our dear ones ever in our hearts
although God gives them sleep.
It brings back long-remembered things
a song, a word, a smile
and our world’s a better place
because we had them for a while!
– Jessie Home Fairweather
A beautiful memory left behind
Of a mother ever so gentle and kind.
We have lost, heaven has gained
The dearest mother God ever gave.
In tears I saw you sinking, mother,
And watched you fade away.
It’s God alone knows how I miss you
As it dawns two years today.
Time may pass and bring its changes,
Fresh with every coming year.
But your loving memory
I will cherish, mother.
Is the heart that loved you dear.
Till memory fades and life departs,
You will live forever in our hearts.
Just think of me, and I’ll be there,
I’m always around, I’m everywhere,
I’m in your dreams when you sleep,
I hear your cries when you weep,
Don’t be sad, wear a smile on your face,
all my sufferings in a better place,
I’ve left this world, my bodies gone,
but in your hearts my soul lives on,
I know you’ll grieve and suffer pain
but one day soon we’ll be together again.
Sweetest memories are all that are left,
Of my dear mother, who has gone to rest.
When you’re alone with Jesus
and He sweetly smiles on thee,
Will you gently whisper to Him,
a little prayer for me?
And when I’m alone with Jesus,
and all else is hid from view,
I’ll gently drop into His heart,
a little prayer for you.
Those we love remain with us
For love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade
Because a loved one’s gone.
Those we love can never be
More than a thought apart,
For as long as there is memory,
They’ll live on in the heart.
Each soul leaves a legacy of love
Each memory a bridge to comfort
And connect one heart to another forever.
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand.
May friends comfort you,
Faith uphold you,
Loving memories heal your heart,
With heartfelt sympathy
God grant you the serenity
To accept the things you cannot change,
Courage to change the things you can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Hold tight to memories for comfort,
Lean on your friends for strength,
And always remember
how much you are cared about.
Life is a book in volumes three
The past, the present, and the yet-to-be.
The past is written and laid away,
The present we’re writing every day,
And the last and best of volumes three
Is locked from sight – God keeps the key.
A gift for such a little while,
Your loss just seems so wrong,
You should not have left before us,
It’s with loved ones you belong.
Your life was full of loving deeds,
Forever thoughtful of our special needs,
Today and tomorrow, my whole life through,
I will always love and cherish you.
Remember that your loss is shared
by many friends who care
and that you’re in our thoughts and hearts
and in our every prayer
May you find the courage to face tomorrow
in the love that surrounds you today.
The sorrow of the faithful
Is not that of permanent loss,
But the tender sense of sadness
That comes in saying good-bye for now
To someone we love.
May today’s sorrow give way
To the peace and
Comfort of God’s love.
May knowing you’re
In the hearts and thoughts of others
Help you and yours
Through this time of sorrow.
He left before you,
A place to prepare,
In the shelter,
Of our Lord’s care,
May this bring comfort,
In the sorrow you bear.
In God’s care you rest above,
In our hearts you rest with love.
Memories of you are ours to keep,
Our words are few but our love is deep.
Those special memories of you
will always bring a smile
if only I could have you back
for just a little while
Then we could sit and talk again
just like we used to do
you always meant so very much
and always will do too
the fact that you’re no longer here
will always cause me pain
but you’re forever in my heart
until we meet again.
Don’t wait until it’s too late
to tell someone how much you love,
how much you care.
Because when they’re gone,
no matter how loud you shout and cry,
they won’t hear you anymore.
Always so good, unselfish and kind
Few on this earth her equal we find.
Honorable and upright in all her ways,
Loyal and true to the end of her days.
You are not forgotten, dear mother.
