Dedicated to Grandmother
(Grandmother Poems)

I was thinking of Love
and you came to mind ..
I have many memories
I would like to rewind.

Do you remember those days
I would lie in your lap? ..
As you doodled my ears
I would take a short nap.

I’m remembering the nights
that we spent together ..
You would scratch my back gently
ever so tender.

As I rewind a bit more
I am seeing much fun ..
I’m remembering the fall
and all the raking we done.

So many leaves
piled by the tree ..
You would cover me up
till I couldn’t see.

Those are just a few
of the memories I have ..
Let’s rewind a bit more
to when I was bad.

I’m sorry for the times
when I made you cry ..
Looking back at the past
I’m not sure I know why.

I know as a child I was
stubborn, selfish, and strange ..
But look at me now
and how much I’ve changed.

I assume looking back
It’s hard to understand ..
That today I’m quite normal
I think God lent a hand.

The ending is near
I think I’ve said Enough! ..
I could go on forever
But ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

All joking aside
I would be up all night ..
If I continued this poem
and continued to write.

There’s just not enough words
to express all the love ..
Other than the words
written her above.

So I Thank You!

From the bottom of my heart
For loving me no matter what.
I was thinking of Love
and you came to mind

Grandpa’s Heart
(Grandpa Poems)

News of you has
taught me more ..
I know now what
a long life’s for.

I’ve found through you
my magic heart ..
The kinder, gentler
patient part.

While I waited those
months for you ..
I reflected on
the things we’d do.

I would be your
special friend ..
Have secrets to share
and pennies to spend.

I would tell you
of the past ..
Leave you memories
that would always last.

I would grant
your every wish ..
Like bigger scoops
in your ice cream dish.

I would be
your biggest fan ..
The one cheering loudest
from the stands.

I’d play games
of make believe ..
Pull magic tricks
from up my sleeve.

I’d take lots
of photographs ..
And be generous
with smiles and laughs.

The first time you
were in my arms ..
I felt the miracle
of your charms.

I placed your newborn
hand in mine ..
And understood
the gift of time.

Tender feelings
are hard to express ..
Grandchild, it is me
you’ve blessed.

Your life gives me
another chance ..
A youthful heart
and eyes that dance.

News of you
has taught me more ..
I know now what
a long life is for.

I give to you
the magic part ..
Of your Grandpa’s
loving heart.

Grandma
(Grandmother Poems)

I really feel quite special
that God has chosen you ..
To be a person in my life, who
knows me through and through.

The time that we spend talking
I’ve always felt you heard ..
You’ve been so good at listening
to each and every word.

And even things I didn’t share
you somehow heard them too ..
I think this is a special gift
that God has given you.

So I just want to thank you
for being there for me ..
And showing me acceptance
and love so totally.

Grandmother Poems | God’s Gift of Angels

God’s Gift of Angels
(Grandmother Poems)

She rocks another baby
hums an age old lullaby ..
She hopes no one is watching
as with thanks, she starts to cry.

Remembering the time
when the babies were her own ..
And her mother told her gently
too soon they would be grown.

Lots of bedtime stories,
skinned knees, and tears to dry ..
Teddy bears, toy trucks and dolls
and kites up in the sky.

First days of school, first loves
the proms, the wedding days ..
Sand castles and snowball fights
and teaching them to pray.

Now, as she holds her grandchild
and gives thanks unto the Lord ..
She knows to be a Grandma
is motherhood’s reward!
